A Finance Leader with Business Acumen

The Australian Ballet, the largest classical ballet company in Australia, was in need of a new Director of Finance and Business Operations; however, the role was much more robust than just managing the accounts. This person would need to lead and manage all business analysis and planning, finance, IT, facilities and asset management functions, as well as serving as the Company Secretary. However, unlike a traditional CFO role, the client also wanted a more broadly commercial executive who could provide high-level strategic analysis and advice on trends affecting the organisation. The Executive Director engaged Allegis Partners to undertake the search having worked with them previously. We looked beyond the performing arts sector to identify and presented a diverse slate of potential candidates. The Ballet appointed a high achiever who had a desire to help shape the organisation and work strategically with the board.
